“House Call”

“Calm & Quiet”       Sensory Friendly Workshop

This workshop is designed for crafters who thrive in a calm, low-sensory environment and prefer a quieter setting with minimal stimulation & personal workspace. We offer sunglasses or no overhead lighting, optional gentle background music—or no music at all—to create a soothing space for creativity.

  • WHO?

    • Kids 5-17 & Adults 18+ who require a calm, quieter, low-stimulation experience

    • Separate Older Teen & Adult Workshop scheduled as needed)

    • Open to crafters in our community (& beyond) who require sensory friendly environments

  • WHAT TO BRING?

    • COMFORT ITEMS: Welcomed and encouraged: Headphones, earplugs, comfy clothing & comfort items, stuffed animal, hats, blanket etc..

    • CLOTHES:

      • Wear sensory friendly clothing that can get dirty.

      • Dress in layers in case you become chilly or warm.

    • SHOES: Sensory friendly shoes (closed toe if possible)

    • SUPPORTS: An adult support person to stay with crafter the duration of the workshop. (parent, guardian, TSS, BSC, etc..)

    • Attending future workshops independently is at the discretion of directors after a period of observation

    • FOOD/DRINK: Bring your favorite food & drink. (We are mindful of crafters allergies and may have to keep certain foods separate)

  • WORKSHOP COMFORT

    • LIGHTING: We have sunglasses to borrow in case of light sensitivity. We will adjust lighting based on our workshop location to make crafters as comfortable as can be. Lighting is different at the two locations,

    • MUSIC: Soft music or nature sounds, or no sounds at all

    • SOUNDS AT THE WORKSHOPS:

      • Schoolhouse

        • The sounds of cars & trucks driving by.

        • Creaky floor board a in few spots

        • Chairs sliding on wood floor

        • Bathroom has a fan, you do not have to turn it on

        • Sound of Keurig

      • Greenhouse

        • Sounds of walking on Stone, mats & pavers

        • Occasional sound of heating & Air Conditioning Systems

        • Sounds of a crickets at night bird during day

WHAT TO EXPECT?

  • Arrival:

    • First 1/2 hour of class is for settling in, snacking, drinking, and meeting the other crafters.

  • Help: Workshop team is happy to help you

  • Class Accommodations:

    • Sensory breaks as needed

    • Movement & bathroom breaks as needed

    • You have your own work station and do not share tools

    • Small class size:

      • 10 crafters max at Schoolhouse Location

      • 8 crafters max at Greenhouse Location NO CELL PHONES on workshop table

  • NO open drink containers on workshop (must be leak proof and closed top/lid)

  • NO CELL PHONES on workshop table

Positive Energy Workshop!

This workshop is designed for high energy crafters who enjoy music, constant motion, making sounds, trying new things, getting messy, & really like talking to people. We welcome your positive energy & enthusiasm!

WHO?

  • Kids 5-17 with high energy and love to move.

  • Adult class scheduled as needed

  • Open to positive energy crafters in our community (& beyond)

WHAT TO BRING?

  • COMFORT ITEMS: Earplugs (if used) fidget spinners (quiet ones) comfy clothing that can get ruined & comfort items if needed, stuffed animal, hats, blanket etc..

  • CLOTHES:Come as you like, but wear clothing that can get ruined and closed toes shoes.

  • SUPPORTS: An adult support person to stay with crafter the duration of the workshop. (parent, guardian, TSS, BSC, etc..)

  • ATTENDANCE: After a period of observation, attending future workshops independently is at the discretion of directors.

“House Call Workshop”

Off-Site Workshop-All Ages

  • Scheduled by appointment only.

  • Individual or small group.

  • A personalized class in your safe space. For crafter(s) & special population groups with mobility and/or medical device restrictions, residing in memory care, independent, assisted, extended hospital stays, or require a full ADA compliant site.

  • We do our best to accommodate crafters & bring the workshop to you!

  • Service area 30 minutes from either workshop location.

  • Your crafters individual accommodations, behaviors & physical, social & emotional, communication & allergies needs may require you to accompany your crafter for the duration of the workshop (parent, guardian, nurse, aide, BSC, TSS etc).
